Connecting Outward: Helping Others in Our Community

Opportunities to Help

Filling Jacob's Ladder Food Pantry

Picture
Jacob’s Cupboard has been going through food quickly, and could use a good restocking.

We collect food at RLC to give to them to help them minister to those in need in our community. Please bring in non-perishable food to RLC, if you are able.

Feeding the Hungry Who Stop By Our Church

Picture
We stock a variety of on-the-go food items to give to people who stop by RLC, hoping to get some food to get by.  If you would like to help out those who are in need of food in our community, please consider donating a few items. We can always use the following items:

• Fresh fruit and vegetables
• Snacks
• Large paper bags
• Canned chicken and tuna
• Ravioli and pasta in a can (both family and individual servings) with pop tops, if possible.
• Chicken and beef soup
• Powdered milk
• Peanut butter
• Canned pop-top fruit (single-size servings)
• Cereal
• Bottled water and individual juice boxes

Thank you!

Help RLC Visitors Feel Welcome

Light Up the Darkness Results

A Very Big Thankyou to all who participated in Light Up the Darkness Program!

We along with Resurrection Kids, and our Cub Scout Troop raised enough money to give to both the Salvation Army and Compassionate Sharing $855.00 each to help people in Canadian County with their utility bills.

Also RLC provided extra food, hats, gloves, blankets, hand warmers, body warmers, feet warmers and socks during the extreme cold snaps.

We went through items very quickly during that time and are continuing to go through food in the Blessing Box at a fast rate.

Thank you for everything!!

Supporting Kommunity Kindness

There is a $1000 match challenge
Kommunity Kindness is a ministry based in Yukon which focuses on supporting families affected by Mental Illness.  The aims are to provide support groups, advocate for legislation and move toward providing transportation and temporary housing.

Right now, they have a $1000 matching challenge.  If you want to help them get that matching money, you can write a check to Kommunity Kindness, or you can donate to RLC and put in the memo “Kommunity Kindness.”  Thanks!

Bedlam Food Drive, Oct 8-29

Members supported Team Crimson or Team Orange by donating  non-perishable food items or money. The food we collected went to RLC’S Blessing Box and Jacob’s Cupboard.  The money we collected went go to the Manna Pantry.

We now Have a Book Sharing Box (Focus on Youth Books) and a Food Box at RLC to Serve Our Community

Two members of RLC who are also Boy Scouts chose RLC and the surrounding community for their Eagle Scout projects in 2021. Our most recent addition (Dec) is a book sharing box on our property. The focus is sharing books for young people in the surrounding area.

In June 2021, our first box was installed: a food sharing box, where people who need food can select items from the box. Donated food items are always appreciated.

Flowers for Residents of Gran Grans in Yukon, May

Picture
Happy Spring!!

This morning I had the pleasure of delivering "Happy Spring" blessings to Gran Gran's Place on behalf of Resurrection Lutheran Church for our May Community Outreach.

We gave them five dozen roses--red and white roses for each of the 42 residents as well as 18 mixed-colored roses for the front desk.

Each resident also received a new box of 48 Crayons and a lovely coloring sheet with a Bible verse. Each month going forward, we will deliver another Bible verse coloring sheet for the residents.

Please pray that these gifts will lift their spirits and remind them that they're a beloved part of our community and not forgotten.

If you'd like to help with the cost of these gifts and future community blessings please add a little to your regular giving and specify the amount to be posted to OUTREACH.

BLESSINGS ON YOUR DAY!
Katherine Dawson, Vice President of Outreach
