Christmas Fun on Dec 9
Breakfast, Christmas Cookie Decorating, Cookie Exchange and Caroling
Please join us on Sat, Dec 9th at 10am. This event is for everyone! Bring a breakfast item to share, some cookies we can decorate and some of your favorite Christmas cookies to exchange. Please make some of the cookies nut free.
We will have a great time eating some delicious food, listening to Christmas stories and decorating Christmas cookies. We will take some cookies home and we'll package some up to take to our shut-ins and to take with us when we go caroling at the nursing home.
We hope you can join us afterwards as we go out and spread some Christmas cheer, caroling at nursing homes and sharing Christmas cookies.
If you would like to decorate a table for this event, please sign up in the Fellowship Hall.
Youth Are Houston Bound in 2018
Please help our youth get to the ELCA Youth Gathering.
We are asking you to put your spare change in the gas can located in the Narthex. We will use the money to help with our group's travel expenses. Thank You!
Mission of the Month (MOM)
December Activity: We will be decorating Christmas cookies on Dec 9 and sharing them with our shut-ins and nursing home residents. We will also be caroling.
Each month, we're adopting one community outreach project and encouraging everyone to participate in some way. There will be big and small projects and you're encouraged to come up with ideas, too.
Some months we will focus on programs we do every year such as Manna Pantry Trick or Treat, the Pumpkin Patch, the Angel Tree, etc. But we will also come up with new programs that we think our members will want to participate in. Fore more info, contact Peter Cox, our VP of Missions and Outreach.
We're Collecting for Care Packages
School has been back in session for a couple of months now, and we have many of our young adults in college or serving in the armed forces. Please help us remind them that even while they are away they remain in our thoughts and prayers.
We are looking for donations to send in our “college care packages.” We have about 16 packages that we will be sending out… We are asking for donations of items to go into the boxes or for money to help buy the items and mail the boxes. Some ideas for donations are travel size tissues, hand sanitizer, snacks, drink mixes, pencils, pens, highlighters, along with hand written notes of encouragement and prayers. There will be a box in the Fellowship Hall for donations and letters. Thank you for your support.
For more info or if you have a name/address of a college student that you would like to receive a care package, please contact Lori B.
Sanctuary Clean-up Day
In preparation for new pew covers and carpet, you are invited to help clean the sanctuary beforehand. We will be meeting after the late service. If you have an hour or two to spare, please stop by.
Christmas Activity on Dec 3
Making Christmas Ornaments and Decorating the RLC Christmas Tree
All ages are invited to get into the Christmas spirit! We will meet at 12:30 pm and have a light pot-luck lunch. Then we will make ornaments—one to take home and one to put on the RLC Christmas Tree. We will then have a blessing of the Christmas Ornaments and decorate the RLC Christmas Tree.
Please bring soup or sandwiches to share.
Share Your Faith at Sunday School
We are asking people to share their favorite Bible story or Bible verse with our inter-generational Sunday School Class. The class will be meeting at 10:30AM in the double glass class room., beginning September 17th. Please sign up for the date you can share your story in the Fellowship Hall
