UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

RLC Thanksgiving Dinner, Nov 16

On Sun, Nov 16, after the worship service, we will be holding our annual Potluck Thanksgiving Dinner.

We are in need of people to donate turkeys and hams.  If there is anyone willing to cook turkeys or hams, lease see Lori B.  We are asking everyone to bring the “Fixins.”

Christmas Wreath Fundraiser Oct 26-Nov 13

Picture
We have a fun fundraiser that will help you get your front door ready for the holidays. We are selling two different natural Christmas wreaths, and you can choose a plain wreath for $30 or a decorated wreath for $40.

The proceeds will go to help with the cost of putting on our Living Nativity in Dec—a gift to our community.

We will be taking in-person orders before and after worship for the next three Sundays. There is also an online link to order them and the church will get credit for the purchase. The other option is to use the QR code, select other, and write wreath. Wreaths must be ordered by Nov 13; they will be delivered to RLC on Mon, Nov 24.

Here is the online link: https://shop.wreathraiser.com/?mid=50112

Wreath Decorating Class, Nov 25

Picture
We are offering a free wreath decorating class, sponsored by TFCU on Nov 25, 10am at RLC.  Buy a wreath from Heather, Teresa or Carey. Then you can bring your own items and ribbon to decorate with, if you like.  We will also have some. There will be a childcare available for a donation.  All proceeds will go towards RLC Living Nativity.

Fall Food Drive, Oct 26-Nov 9

Picture
The RLC Fall Food Drive has wrapped up, although food is always welcome.  We collected food for Jacob’s Cupboard and to help stock our Blessings Box.

Fall Food Drive Results
On our Trick or Treat Food Drive, we collected 201.40 pounds of food from the community.  We challenged the congregation to collect at least 210 pounds of food for Jacob’s Cupboard and for our Blessing Box.  We collected over 250 lbs of food!

Pumpkin Patch Photos

On Saturday October 11, the pumpkins were delivered. See "Our Photo Album" for pictures of our fun event.

Grief Group Meeting the 3rd Thursday of the Month, 6:30pm at RLC

Are you grieving the loss of someone you loved? Or do you have a friend or family member who could benefit from some emotional support. Come join us and let's navigate this journey together. If you would like more information, please contact Lori B or Amy Tharp.

Help Feed People Who Stop by Our Outside Blessing Box

Our Blessing Box continues to get heavy use. Our biggest need is packages of tuna, chicken and other protein. Two things we could use more of right now are granola bars and chewy granola bars.

Worship Theme for Advent and Christmas

Please check back

Wednesday Dinner (6:30pm) & Bible Study (7:00pm)

Join us for food, fellowship, prayer and great discussions about the Bible and living out our faith.
Topic:  The Augsburg Confession – what is a Lutheran?
We will be studying what it means to call yourself a Lutheran as our study topic in November and December (and possibly the beginning of January).  We are using the book A Reading and Discussion Study of The Augsburg Confession by Rev. Steven King.  Let Pastor Mark know if you would like a book.

"Coffee and Lutheranism 101" Class is Off to a Good Start

Join us Sundays after church.  We will be done by noon.

Are you exploring Baptism or Holy Communion?  Are you looking at joining the church but don’t know much about Lutheranism (or Christianity)?  Are you already a church member but have questions you would like answered?

LifeWise School-day Bible Class Coming to Yukon & Mustang Public Schools

LifeWise Bible Classes in Yukon and Mustang School Districts
Pastor Mark has been part of the steering committees to start Bible classes for students in the Yukon and Mustang school districts.

Our present status in the schools:
Yukon:
The program has been approved, and we are in the process of hiring a local program director.  It will start at one school (Parkland Elementary) where the students will cross the street to Town and Country Christian Church for class.  We hope to be adding more schools as meeting sites become available.

Mustang:
In Mustang, there is a steering committee formed which is starting to explore possibilities.

What is LifeWise, and how can they do Bible Classes for Public Schools?
-LifeWise is a non-profit based in Ohio that has begun Bible classes in over 1000 school districts across the country.  They focus on the aspects of faith that unite the church rather than lifting up what divides.

-Federal law says public schools must provide an opportunity for Bible classes for students as long as the following criteria are met:
  1. During the school day
  2. Off-site
  3. Parent-approved

The Season of Pentecost

Pastor Mark is Praying at the Yukon Chamber of Commerce 2x/month

Following God’s call to get into the community and connect people with God and each other, Pastor Mark will be doing community prayer in the Yukon Chamber of Commerce board room from noon-1:00 the first and third Monday of each month.

Come and join us as we pray for each other and the Yukon community.

CommUNITY Prayer

Pastor Mark is working to establish times where people from different churches (or no church at all) can gather at various places during the week for a time of fellowship and prayer with the two simple rules:
  1. Those who gather pray for each other.
  2. Those who gather pray for whoever is hosting the meeting (restaurant, coffee shop, church, etc.)
Stay tuned for more information.
