RLC Bible Study
We offer several options for bible study at RLC and scriptures are a central focus of our sermon messages. For more information on these studies, see our Bible Study Groups and Adult Sunday School Class.
Summer Bible Study: Prayer Focus
As Pastor Mark learns about times of Revival and Renewal in church history, we will be participating in one of the most predictable ingredient of those times of renewal – Praying.
There are three ways you can participate in the 2018 Summer of Prayer:
100 Days of Prayer for Yukon
Pastor Mark will be learning about the Moravian Movement in 18th Century Germany. Their experience of spiritual renewal led them to a 100-year 24/7 prayer vigil. We will not pray 100 years, but 100 days. When renewal comes to the church, there is an atmosphere where people pray for each other and their community. Pastor Mark has prepared a 100-day prayer calendar which, if you pray each day, will cause you to pray for every church in Yukon twice and all of the businesses in Yukon Chamber of Commerce, city offices, schools and organizations. You are invited to pray at the same time each day for those on the list for that day. You can pick a time, or you can use your birthday as your time. Pastor Mark will be praying at 5:19 each day because his birthday is May 19. The hope is to have other churches and many of the businesses in town join us in these 100 days of prayer. The actual days of prayer begin on Monday, May 21, but we are inviting everyone who will be praying to pray from Ascension Day (May 10) until Pentecost Sunday (May 20) for their personal relationship with God.
100 Miles of Prayer
Pastor Mark will be walking in Norway and learning about Hans Nielsen Hauge, a church and community influencer who walked over 10,000 miles bring transformation in early 19th Century Norway. We will not walk 10,000 miles, but 100 miles of prayer walking. There will be more information posted for ways you can join walking groups this summer. If you walk by yourself, you are invited to take time to pray about each direction of our church mission statement as you walk. Pray for your connection upward with God, to hear God’s voice and experience his love. Pray for your inward connection with other Christians, for your church, pastor, family, friends. Pray for your outward connection with the world, who is God calling you to notice, to love, to serve.
We have 20 prayer boxes which we hope to place around the community to collect peoples’ prayers. We will collect them and put them on a prayer Facebook page to share the requests so people can be praying for each other. If you would like to bring a prayer box to your workplace or other place you spend time, and then regularly collect the requests, talk to Pastor Mark or just take one of the boxes.
E100, a Congregational Bible Reading Initiative
December 2017-May 2018
To honor the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, we are going to take time to focus on something Martin Luther and other Reformers saw as vitally important to a healthy church – everyone reading the Bible for themselves.
A great place to start is being part of E100 from December 2017 to May 2018. We will be inviting you to read the Bible 5 days a week for 20 weeks, come to church and hear sermons based on the readings for 20 weeks and commit to being part of a small group in which you can pray, fellowship and discuss what you are reading in the Bible.
For more info, see separate page for E100.
