The 2021 Christmas Quilts Raffle and Silent Auction Were a Great Success!

A record $950 was raised, which will be used to support our Quilting Ministry; this money will be used to purchase the fabric for quilts for our 2022 high school graduating seniors, and also for the beautiful quilting stitches on them.

Thank You RLC so much for the support of our Ministry.  Happy new year.

Quilters Make Masks to Help Fight Covid-19

Our quilters weren't able to get together to make quilts during the Covid 19 stay-in-place restrictions so several members started making much-needed masks.  If you don't sew but have material or elastic to donate, please let Sharon West know.

A Gift to RLC: A New Reformation Banner

Picture
Members of the RLC Quilting Ministry have gifted the church with a beautiful new quilted banner in honor of the 500th anniversary of the reformation of the church. The red and white banner is a striking tribute to the Reformation.

In presenting the banner, the group said, " As it says in Thessalonians 5: 16-18, Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. The quilting ministry has touched not only the recipients of the quilts, but the givers, as well as all who make the quilts and those who pray over them as they tie a knot. This is our thanks to the RLC community for their continued prayers and support."

Our Quilts Make a Difference in People's Lives

An RLC Quilt in Swaziland

Corbin Johns, son of RLC member Nathan Johns, is serving in the Peace Corp in Swaziland. The Quilt Ladies made him a patchwork quilt for his bed there to help him feel more at home. Nathan reported that he loves the quilt. Below you can see photos of Corbin in American and Swaziland dress and the quilt.

Thank You from Warren and Marcia

"There is a pretty little quilt lying at the foot of our bed. We are so grateful, not only for the quilt but the love and prayers it represents. God has been very good to us throughout this journey. He shows his love through the kindness and generosity of people like you! The end of May, Warren was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He was rapidly declining and the prognosis was not good, but God had other plans. Through the aid of modern medicine and lots of prayers he now has a normal chest x-ray. Please continue to pray for us... Thanks from the bottom of our hearts! Love in Christ Jesus, Warren and Marcia"

Thank You Note for Quilt

Prayers & Squares Quilting Ministry

PictureDo you know someone who needs an extra big helping of love and prayers?
Do You Want to Change Someone’s Life?  Join our Prayers & Squares Quilting Ministry.
If you sew, we have a job for you.  If you can’t sew, we have a job for you.  We need people to iron, put the knots in the quilts and other various jobs. If you have a portable sewing machine, please bring it.  If not, just bring yourself and we will give you an opportunity to contribute.  If you have never made a quilt and are worried that you don’t know enough to help, let us show you that you can. For more info, contact Jean Ross. The next meeting is Saturday, Jan 16, at 9:00am.

Prayer Quilts
Our talented quilters use their skills to sew one-of-a-kind lap quilts for people who are suffering in some way or need encouragement and hope. How it works: Members of RLC submit a simple prayer quilt request with pertinent information. The Quilt Ladies create the quilt and it is delivered to the congregation with information about the special need. Prayers are given at each of our services for the quilt's recipient, and then following the service, members tie a knot in the quilt and offer their personal prayers.
Miracles have happened as a result of our quilts tied with prayers!

The quilts are hand delivered by the RLC member who requested the quilt, along with a card from the Quilt Ladies and lots of love and prayers. There is no cost to the member requesting the quilt or the person receiving the quilt.

Quilts for Our Graduates
Our Quilt Ladies make larger, customized quilts to present to each of our youth graduating from high school each year.

Fundraising Quilts
At other times, the Quilt Ladies make these cloth masterpieces to raffle for RLC fundraisers--in support of our youth programs and other special needs of the church.  Each year, a quilt is also raffled to to raise money for quilting materials.

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.    1 Timothy 2:1
